Elev. 2990 - 3300 m. Epiphytic or terrestrial shrub with stems 5 cm in diameter and 4 m tall; rachis, floral bracts, bracteoles, pedicels, calyx and lower 3/4 of corolla bright dark waxy red, upper 1/4 of corolla pale yellowish-white; floral bracts concave and nearly perpendicular to rachis at anthesis; corolla fleshy, 2-3 m thick; filaments white; anthers golden-yellow.
