At the edge of a logged area of an open forest, in clay- loam soil (Shinglemill-Gibney complex, 2 to 9 percent slopes; fine, mixed, (semi)active, isomesic Aquic to Typic Hapludults). With Cytisus scoparius, Gaultheria shallon, Lithocarpus densiflorus, Myrica californica, Pirns contorta, P. muricata, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Pteridium aquilinum, Rhododendron macrophyllum, Sequoia sempervirens and Vaccinium ovatum. At the N. side of the intersection of Little River Airport Road & Albion Little River Road, around 0.4mi NE of the Mendocino County Airport & about 3.1 mi NE of the intersection of Albion Little River Road and Rt. 1 (Shoreline Highway).
