Growing in rocky loam (Cannell-Hoover-Capilano, 15-60% slopes; Orthic (Orstein) Humo-Ferric Podzol) along a dry woodland edge on a steep, south-facing slope, with Acer macrophyllum, Agrostis stolonifera, Aira caryophyllea, Alnus rubra, Buddleia davidii, Crepis atribarba, Holodiscus discolor, Polytrichum sp., Populus trichocarpa (rare), Pseudotsuga menziesii & Thuja plicata (rare). Along the N. side of Cypress Bowl Road, about 1,4mi W. of the bridge over route 1/99. West Vancouver. Elev. about 820ft. 49° 21' 03.0"N, 123° 13’ 18.7"W. UTM 10 483885E, 546648 IN (NAD83/WGS84).
