Roadside slopes in disturbed (agriculture) areas. Elev. 3000 m. Shrub to small tree 1-4 m tall, sometimes arising from swollen burl. Floral bracts, rachis, pedicels, bracteoles, calyx and lower 3/4 corolla bright red; upper 1/4 corolla pale greenish-white (pale green in bud).
