nitid; pale-glaucous below. Bracts crimson. Hypanthium
red. Corolla crimson except for the pale yellow apex*
Ripe fr. purple-black, shining, the calyx lobes closed
over the apex of ovary. Very abundant from 7,000-10,000 ft
