On bosque margin amongst rocks. Locally common.

Description
Shrub, 1.5-2 m x 3 -4 cm diam., bark orange-brown, flakey, leaves discolorous, dark green above, yellowish green below, main veins sunken above; calyces thick, fleshy, dark red with green base, hairs rusty-brown, bracts aas calyces but apices green, petals fleshy, very dark purple almost black, style reddish purple. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
