Habitat
Tropical, evergreen, seaasonal, lowland moist forest. Disturbed & open path edge dominated by numerous Melastomataceae. Common. Granite bedrock.

Description
Shrub to 1.5 m; hairs on panicle are deeper red at maturity; fruit black when ripe; flowers only open in morning, 5 pale pink petals & 10 bright pink anthers. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
