Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Downstream is defined as flowing in the direction of river flow, or toward the mouth of the river. Georeferenced to 2 km. downstream Rio Curuá from the Sete Varas airstrip in Sete Varas, Pará. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the geographic center of the Sete Varas airstrip, on the western shore of Rio Curuá. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure from the geographic center of the airstrip directly east to Rio Curuá. Beginning at this location along Rio Curuá (parallel to the geographic center of the airstrip), used Distance Measurement Tool to measure approximately 2 km. (2.00049 km.) downstream (southward, toward the location of the mouth of Rio Curuá). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the offset location. Used Distance Measurement Tool again to find the linear extent of the Sete Varas airstrip (the approximate starting location of offset) by measuring from the geographic center of the airstrip to the farthest extent of the airstrip. Input coordinates, linear extent (590.965 m.), measurement error (.001 m.), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
