Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Referred to GeoNames.org for location information for the neighborhood of Rondônia (not to be confused with the state of Rondônia) in the city of Ji-Paraná, Rondônia (http://www.geonames.org/maps/google_-10.867_-61.95.html). Georeferenced to the approximate midpoint of BR-364 (Porto Velho-Cuiabá road) in Rondônia, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the road which connects the cities of Porto Velho, Rondônia and Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, BR-364. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the location where BR-364 meets the approximate geographic center of the city of Nova Vida and the location where this road meets Av. Clóvis Arraes, which leads to the neighborhood of Rondônia, then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along this segment of BR-364 closest to the midpoint of the line; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic midpoint of the road between the two sites. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of this segment of road. Input coordinates, linear extent (61978.6 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
