Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to geographic center of Igarapé do Leão, which is very nearby 10 km. along BR-174. Referred to "Traveling Luck" website to find the approximate location of Igarapé Leão, since it was unmarked on Google Maps (http://travelingluck.com/South+America/Brazil/Amazonas/_3744620_Igarap%C3%A9+Le%C3%A3o.html). Igarapé do Leão seems to be a tributary off Rio Negro, north-northwest of the city of Manaus, approximately 5 km. west of BR-174. Using Google Maps, located Igarapé do Leão. Georeferenced to the geographic center of this Igaraé do Leão, along the shoreline south of the stream nearby the road. Used the measurement tool to measure a straight line between the two points on the stream most removed from each other within the administrative boundaries specified in the locality description, from the start and finish of this stream. Halved this distance to approximate the midpoint of this stream. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates at the midpoint. Input coordinates, linear extent (the distance from the midpoint on the road to the farthest point on the road within the administrative boundaries specified in the locality description - 2061.989 m.), and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
