Pileus: (25-) 52-88 mm, convex, becoming somewhat irregular; densely matted subtomentose; greyish rose (9C3), fading to tan. Margin incurved, becoming irregularly indented, often beveled slightly. Context thick, white, unstaining. Odor mild, fungoid; taste extremely bitter. Stipe: 55-102 x 15-23 mm, subclavate, solid, minutely pruinose; pruinose hairs clustered, cinnamon brown to light chocolate brown over pale greyish rose (near 9C3 but lighter) ground; when young, stipe appears mostly pale greyish rose over apical half and light brown (6D4) below; in age, apical half appears light yellowish brown and lower half light brown (6D4), both with a slightly micaceous sheen due to clustered caulocystidia against a paler ground. Context white, unstaining. Basal mycelium white.Hymenophore: Poroid; depressed around stipe. Pores 1-2 per mm, round, white becoming light pink (7A2), staining pale yellowish brown. Tubes 5-10 mm long, very pale pink (lighter than pore surface).Macrochemical Reaction: Pileus very pale yellow in ammonia; context and stipe negative.
