    Dry sclerophyll. Eucalyptus pilularus, Allocasuarina, Leptospermum. Solitary. On sand.

  • Description

    Pileus 4.5-5.5 cm broad, plano-convex, dry, areolate on disc, appressed squamulose toward margin, appressed fibrillose at margin, with slight sterile projecting edge, brownish yellow (5C6,5). Flesh tan (discolored? but probably white when new and fresh), unchanging. Tubes adnexed, straw yellow (3B4), slightly olive when bruised, with fine pores. Stipe 5 cm x 1.2 cm, slightly curved, equal and tapered at base, dry, white at first, then pale yellow, thickly granulose bumpy above, dull yellow to pale brownish below and subscabrous to recurved squamulose-scabrous. Previously referred to as Boletus 'yellow squamose'.
