Det. Risto Kalliola in AAU, November 1990
Ttere are »1 least three morphological types of this species. my opinion of this simple is circled (the itfcntification of the type* is most reliable in the field, as many of the diagnostic features are drawn from the overall habit of the plants):
1.	Wg typt' with tall (up tol4 m), stout, unfaranched culms round in transection, and with long
and wide leaf-blades which often droop at their tips.
2.	'small type' with shorter (< 10 m). more slender and frequently branching culms which are
oval in transection near tte summit, with a patch of trichomea on the «heath below the leaf-blade, and with rigid, often caulescent leaf-blades.
T intermediate type' with characteristics of both of the above-mentioned types.
47^ample quality does not allow the above-presented distinction.
