Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center of Rio Cupari (synonymous with Rio Cupary) in Pará, Brazil. Referred to a map of the Santarem Region of the Amazon River provided by website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jwg3/Broom/santarem.jpg. Using the reference map and Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Cupari, a tributary of Rio Tapajós in Pará, BR. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line from the mouth of the river (where Rio Cupari branches off from Rio Tapajós) to the approximate end of the river (using visual evidence to trace the path of the river through the dense forest); halved this distance to approximate the midpoint of the river. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, on adjacent land. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the midpoint to the farthest extent of Rio Cupari, 44237.5 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
