Description
Pileus 3.5- 5.5 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, viscid when wet, soon dry, glabrous, slightly rugulose to subrugulose and uneven, yellow to mustard yellow (3A6-3B6), with splashes of pale orange, with even margin. Flesh pale yellow to yellow, unchanging, with mild odor and mild to slightly unpleasant taste (not idiosyncratic). Tubes adnexed, yellow (2B8) when young, near mustard yellow (3A6) with age, not staining, with pores bright chrome yellow (3A8) when young, lemon yellow (3B8) with age, not staining. Stipe 4-4.5 cm long, 8-13 mm broad, curved, equal, sometimes tapered at base, dry, yellow to pale yellow above, pale yellow to pale greenish yellow below, densely to finely subscabrous to subsquamulose, with red squamules, with base becoming pale greenish from handling, otherwise brown from handling, yellow at base, but obscured from handling, with interior pale yellow, unchanging, solid.
