  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center of Rio Jarí, which runs along the Amapá-Pará border in Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Jarí, which branches off from Rio Amazonas at the Amapá-Pará border. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the mouth of the river (where Rio Jarí branches off from Rio Amazonas) to the approximate end of the river (approximated through the dense forests), halved this distance to approximate the midpoint of Rio Jarí within Amapá. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, on the east bank of the river in Amapá, BR. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the midpoint to the farthest extent of Rio Jarí within Amapá, 250777 m.), and measurement error (1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
