Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Assumed this to be the section of road connecting the city of Capanema to Maranhão, in accordance with other locality descriptions. Road BR-22, connecting the city of Capanema, Pará to the State of Maranhão, is synonymous with BR-316, in accordance with Google Maps - Directions. Georeferenced to an offset of approximately 64 km along road BR-316, from the city of Capanema toward Maranhão. Used Google Maps - Earth View to find the road which connects the city of Capanema to Maranhão, BR-316. Beginning at the location where BR-316 meets the access road which leads to the approximate geographic center of the city of Capanema (intersection of BR-316 and R. Antônio Adalgisio), used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure approximately 64 km (64.0 km) along the road toward Maranhão. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the offset along the road. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent of the starting location, in this case the city of Capanema, by measuring from the approximate geographic center of the city to the farthest extent of the city. Input coordinates, linear extent (3.79 km), measurement error (.010 km), and distance precision (1 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
