Description
Pileus 2.5-6.5 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, finely subtomentose, golden to amber yellow (4B-C6,5,4), with marginal areas of dull reddish brown, with sterile margin. Flesh pale yellow to bright yellow, unchanging, with coal tar odor, unpleasant taste (not bitter). Tubes adnate to adnexed, olive brown (4D7,6), unchanging, with pores concolorous with some areas becoming pale brown. Stipe 3-6 cm long, 8-10 mm broad, equal, curved to strict, dry, subpruinose to subpruinose streaked, nearly subpubescent near base, yellow to red at apex, pale brown to pale olive brown below, dull yellow at base, with interior bright yellow in apex, pale brown to pale reddish brown toward base.
