  • Notes (shown on label)

Bees seen visiting the flowers. They were halictid- or meliponid-like, ca 3/4 cm long. They landed on the edge of the hood and pushed directly in so that their backs brushed up against the stamens. Other bees landed upside down on the hood or petals and the pushed into the flower. The bees entered from both the side and front of the flowers. Several bees even visit material cut and waiting to be pressed. The hood, when squeezed, exuded some clear fluid, somewhat sweet to the tip of the tongue. Pickled flowers, chromosome material, and photos.
