  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Interpreted "upstream" as nearer to the source of a stream, or situated in the opposite direction in which a stream or river flows. Georeferenced to 30 km. east along Igapó Açú, toward Lago Taciuã, starting at junction of BR-319 and Igapó Açú. Using Google Maps, located junction of BR-319 and Igapó Açú. Used measurement tool to measure approximately 30 km. upstream along Igapó Açú. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates (on the north shore, nearer to BR-319). In this case, since named place is Igapó Açú and there is not much else nearby besides forest, used measurement tool to measure extent of Igapó Açú from junction at BR-319 to end at Lago Taciuã. Halved this distance for linear extent. Input coordinates, linear extent (30641.5 m.), measurement error (.1 m.), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
