  • Description

    Gregarious. Pileus 4.5-5 cm broad, ±plane, dry, subtomentose, golden yellow to yellow ochre to golden brown (5B-C-D7) at the margin and toward the disc, cocoa brown (6E7) at the disc. Flesh pale yellow, with a thin pink zone under pileus surface, unchanging when exposed, with mild odor and sweet to subacid taste. Lamellae decurrent, close, with 2-3 levels of lamellulae, bright yellow (3A7,6), becoming olive yellow to brass yellow (3,4C7) with age, with edges even to uneven, unchanging when bruised. Stipe 3-3.5 cm long, 7-10 mm broad, ±equal to slightly broader downward, dry, reddish brown at apex, brown below and breaking up into squamulous scales; scales overlaying a white to pale yellow ground color; base yellow with yellow mycelium; interior yellow, solid. NH4: blue green, then dull purple on pileus and stipe.
