Description

Vernacular nome "Maraja". Stems several in a clunp, to ca. 6m. high, 4 cm in diamn., with black spines in rings on trunk. Leaves few, the sheath ca. 50 cm. long, spiny; petiole 90cm. long, black-spiny; rachis 2.5m. long with ca 35 pinnae per si.

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center of the reserve, which is very neraby 26 km. along Manaus-Itacoatiara road (AM-010). Referred to Pesquisas Ecologicas de Longa Duração (PELD) website for more information about the location of Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke (http://peld.inpa.gov.br/sitios/ducke). Using the reference map provided by the PELD website and Google Maps, located Reserva Florestal Ducke. Used measurement tool to measure total extent of the reserve, then approximated the geographic center. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find coordinates. Used linear extent as uncertainty radius.
