  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Lago Camaleão on Ilha da Marchantaria in Amazonas, Brazil. Referred to map (Figure 1. Localização do Lago Camaleão (esquerda superior) e fotografia mostrando o aspecto do Lago (esquerda inferior) provided by "Phenology of Cornops aquaticum (Orthoptera: Acrididae) associated with Eichhornia crassipes (Pontederiaceae) in a Floodplain Lake in Central Amazonia, Brazil" article for location information for Lago Camaleão (Braga, Carlos Elias, et al. "Phenology of Cornops aquaticum (Orthoptera: Acrididae) associated with Eichhornia crassipes (Pontederiaceae) in a Floodplain Lake in Central Amazonia, Brazil." Revista de la Sociedad Entomológica Argentina, Vol.70, n.3-4 (2011) accessed 23 October 2013). Using the reference map and Google Maps - Satellite View, located Lago Camaleão on Ilha da Marchantaria. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the two extremes of the lake, then halved this distance to approximate the location of the geographic center of the lake. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the geographic center, along the northern shore. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the lake, 2918.82 m.), and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
