  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Locality description states "Rio Urubu." This is NOT the location of Rio Urubu according to Google Maps. Using geographic clues and other locality descriptions, assumed this locality is along to Rio Branco (in Roraima), another tributary of Rio Negro. Rio Urubu does not reach município Roaima and is not anywhere near Iracema. Unable to locate Iracema waterfall. Georeferenced to Rio Branco in Iracema, since geographic center of town of Iracema is along BR-174. Using Google Maps, located Rio Branco in Iracema, then approximated the geographic center (along banks of Rio Branco). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates. Used measurement tool (Google Maps) to measure from coordinates to the center of the nearest named place, Caracaraí. Halved this distance to find linear extent of Iracema, 38585.7 m.. Used linear extent as uncertainty radius.
