Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 7 km. along estrada de Ferro Carajás, the railroad which connects Carajás, Pará to São Luís, Maranhão, to transport mining material. Using Google Maps - Satellite and Map Views, located the filling station at the beginning of the railroad in Serra dos Carajás. Beginning at this location, used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 7 km. (7.00009 km.) along the railroad toward the direction of São Luís. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of this offset along the railroad. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent of the starting location (filling station at the beginning of railroad in Serra do Carajás) by measuring from the geographic center of the filling station to the farthest extent of railroad that may be considered the beginning of the railroad, to the farthest extent of the loop by the loading area. Input coordinates, linear extent (1247.53 m.), measurement error (.01 m.), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
