Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of "Ilha do Roçado;" instead georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the confluence of Rio Trombetas and Rio Cachorro in Oriximiná, Pará, in accordance with other locality descriptions. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the mouth Rio Cachorro (confluence of Rio Cachorro and Rio Trombetas). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Rio Cachorro, along the adjacent shore (on one of the islands). Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the confluence of the rivers. Input coordinates, linear extent (1665.55 m.), and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Mouth or headwaters of a river, confluence of waterways, trailhead).
