Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Assumed road AM-1 to be synonymous with AM-010, since unable to find road "AM-1" and from other reference to other locality descriptions which state that AM-1 connects Manaus to Itacoatiara, as AM-010 does. Georeferenced to 64 km along AM-010 from Manaus toward Itacoatiara, in Amazonas, Brazil. Used the Google Maps - Earth View to locate road AM-010 in the city of Manaus. Beginning at the start of this road, the intersection of road AM-010 and road BR-174, used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure approximately 64 km (64.0 km) toward Itacoatiara. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the offset along the road. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent of the starting location, in this case used the approximate linear extent of the city of Manaus, by measuring from the approximate geographic center of the city to the farthest extent of the city. Input coordinates, linear extent (17.5 km), measurement error (.0025 km), and distance precision (1 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
