  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Referred to "Traveling Luck" website (http://travelingluck.com/South%20America/Brazil/Amazonas/_3745072_Rio%20Branquinho.html) for location information for Rio Branquinho (synonymous with Rio Brancinho). Georeferenced to the mouth of Rio Branquinho, which is at the confluence of Rio Branquinho and Rio Cuieiras. Using Google Maps, located Rio Branquinho in Amazonas, BR. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the geographic center of the confluence, along the north shore (adjacent). Used distance measurement tool (Google Maps) to measure linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the meeting of the rivers. Input coordinates, linear extent (61.9089 m.), and measurement error (.0001 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Mouth or headwaters of a river, confluence of waterways, trailhead).
