Habitat
Moist forest of Pinus occidentalis. Locally common.

Description
Shrub to 1 m tall; bracts red; flowers with petals white, anthers white, arranged actinomorphically; fruits red (immature) to pale blue or nearly white (mature); leaves flat to curved/falcate, shiny above with 1- & 2-order veins impressed. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
