Moist forest of Pinus occidentalis and many associated shrubs (Buddleja, Myrica, Garrya, Baccharis, Brunellia, Lobelia, Cestrum, Ilex, Rubus, etc.). Common.

Shrubs to 1 m. tall; petals white, stamens white, fruits red (immature); leaves shiny and deep green. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
