  • Description

    Small tree, the stem arching, 4.5 m long, 6 cm diam; bark grey, cracking below with dark, longitudinal furrows, smooth above; bud scales red; receptacles greenish; calyx red; petals white; flowers in bud on on day of collection (12 Apr 2009, see Atha 6933). Cut branches brought to the Bronx and placed in water on same day. Flowers opened on 14 Apr. This specimen made from those shoots on 15 April; several other trees seen in situ at exactly the same phenological stage.
