Description
Tree ca. 25 m tall, to 1 m dbh. Branches and leaves decussate, 3-foliolate; central foliole to 30 x 20 cm; petioles distally and basally pulvinate. Inflorescence erect panicles; calyx imbricate, light red to reddish-green; petals 4(-5), spathulate, reflexed, white, inserted on a receptacle, ca. 15 x 4 mm, each with a yellow nectar towar the base, that turning red at post anthesis; stamens 6, exserted, ca. 2.5 cm; ovary superior, ca. 2.5 x 1 mm, reddish at post anthesis; style linear, ca. 1 mm. Fruit capsular, pyriform, to 6 cm in diam., brown, 3-dehiscent, containing 3 unilocular seeds. Phenology of specimen: Flower and Fruit.
