jTaboquinhas. Forest of tall trees, semi-open, with thick
layer of leafmold and good mixture of herbaceous plants
such as sedges, Bambusoideae, Marantaceae. Elev. 100m.
: Short-rhizomatous grasses, forming small clumps with erect
culms, usually at the base of trees or under shrubs. Blades
shiny green on upper surface, bluish-green on lower sur-
face. Plants on wetter slopes above stream in flower, those
higher up where drier not in flower.
