  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to center of the river valley/floodplain of the Rio Mucurí where it is intersected by the road BR-101, in Mun. Mucurí, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Terrain View, located the Rio Mucurí, road BR-101, and the place where they intersect. Using Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs, found coordinates for the intersection point. Using Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps), found the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the most distant point within the river valley basin that is within relatively close proximity to BR-101 on either side of the river. Input coordinates, linear extent (1711.90 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Junction, Intersection, Crossing).
