Description
Branched tree, 8 m tall x 35 cm dbh. Leaves to 100 x 18 cm. Cauliflorous. Flowers yellow, filaments are initially yellow, turning reddish at anthesis. The whole center of the flower turns red at postanthesis. The flowers are visited and perhaps pollinated by black Trigona bees (preserved). Fruit brown outside, the pulp is white when immature, turning bright-orange at maturity; embryo white. Phenology of specimen: Flower and Fruit.
