Habitat
Periodically inundated forest of black water (=igapó).

Description
Tree, 8 m x 10 cm. Bark fissured, the outer bark thick, the inner bark thick, red. Flowers 3.5 cm in largest diam. Calyx green; petals white; hood mostly white except for yellow at entrance. Phenology of specimen: flower.
