Ecuador. Morona Santiago. Basin of Rio Morona, Rio Mangosiza. Mission of Miazal, 45 km ESE of Sucua (by air). Undulating terrain, soils sandy. Found (cultivated?) in cleared area behind kitchen of the mission.

Description
Tree to 6-8 m, few branches, cauliflorous, fruit obtusely ellipsoid, to 12 cm long. N.V.: apay, apai (Shuar). Principal interest: contraceptive (drink decoction of bark) - large doses reportedly may cause sterility. Secondary sources indicate seed is used.
