Submontane forest. Quercus oocarpa and Quercus sp. Gregarious. On soil.

Description
Pileus 4-11 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, subtomentose, dark red brown with ruby red (12D-E5) when young,losing the latter color with age and just becoming brown. Flesh white, changing slightly to pinkish, up to 2 cm thick, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, up to 1 cm deep, white at first becoming pinkish flesh color, staining brown when exposed, with pores concolorous and staining likewise, 2-3 per mm. Stipe 7-10 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, subclavate and pinched at the base, dry, subpruinose, concolorous with pores at apex, ruby red in central portion, pallid below and developing pale olive stains from handling, otherwise with white basal mycelium, with interior as in pileus.
