    Brazil. Maranhão. Lorêto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region, between the Rios Balsas and Parnaíba. About 40 km south of Lorêto. Near place called "Picada", about 450 m S of the creek, "Riacho da Picada".

  • Habitat

    At head of brook ravine (now dry) out into gentle slope of side of low plateau. In shade of arboreal vegetation transitional between forest & "chapada". Fine sandy dark brown soil with a few pebbles. [See label for further habitat description.].

  • Description

    Shrub, fls. 15 mm diam., petals white with yellow base. Filaments yellow, anthers golden-yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
