Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 10 km along the road which connects Rio Juruena to the city of Aripuanã in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the road which connects the river to the city, MT-208. Beginning at the location where MT-208 meets Rio Juruena (at the region of Juruena), used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 10 km (10.0004 km) toward the city of Aripuanã. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the offset along the road. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent of the starting location, the meeting of road MT-208 and Rio Juruena, by measuring from the geographic center of the road at this junction to the farthest extent of the port at this location (to encompass any area that may have been considered the starting location of the offset). Input coordinates, linear extent (0.0675197 km), measurement error (0.0005 km), and distance precision (10 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
