The second vernacular name refers to the use of these climbing razor-grasses to prevent entry of vampire bats into primitive country houses. They are hung m the unglazed windows and the doorways, and presumably the bats are afraid of colliding with their sharp and clinging leaves. Date: 6.11.1989 Coll.: J.A. Ratter, P.E.
