  • Specimen Notes

"ex hb. Ag." "Type material a few small fragments in packets No. 43342 and 43343 in hb. Agardh. Also sketches (No. 43337). Is very close to my No. 2433 from Porto Rico and is perhaps the same species. Is mostly sterile and sterile plants differ consideravly in habit from my tetrasporic No. 2433, but a tetrasporic plant was found which was similar. However, the stichidia, which are inmature, seem longer and narrower than in mine and the main axes seem conspicuously alate and bilateral. Cfr. Again. Ag. probably saw only one or two mature stichidia and his glass mount is dried out and worthless. The type material is mixed with a 8- or 9- siphoned Lopho- or Hetero-siphonia. Cfr. also Thuret's T. macrourum".
