Lyngbya splendens seems to be a very distinct species. The color of the sheath resembles that of some species of the genus Porphyrosiphon, but structurally it is more like a typical Lyng- ? bya sheath. The trichomes are typical of the genus Lyngbya. It is probably closely related to L. major. «/i 6 7 8 9 10 _ XT V The New York copyright reserved Botanical Garden V. //<£/ 81.
