Distribution
NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN 00900693 ^RBARIU/w7pN COLUMBIA °H}V Phycotheoa Boreali-Americana. Collins, Holden, and Setc XXV. Prionitis Lyallii forma gladiata Setchell ms. Abundant in quiet pools, Dillon’s Beach, Marin Couuty, California, Dee. 12, 1898. W. A. SETCHELL & R. E. GIBBS. From Harveyan specimens of Lyall’s collecting, preserved in Herb. Far- low, it seems that it will be necessary to refer to Prionitis Lyallii Harv., the Californian forms, which have hitherto passed under the name of P. Andersonii Eaton. The cystocarpic specimens, sent out under No. 448 of this distribution, may well be referred to the var. normalis of Harv. (Proc. Linn. Soc., Vol. VI, p. 173, 1862.) The tetrasporic plants distributed with this label repre- sent the type of P. Andersoniana Eaton, and not any particular variety de- scribed by Harvey. From the broad gladiate branches, the name forma gladiata is proposed to distinguish it. It is but a broad, luxuriant and more southern form of the species. W. A. S.
