Brazil. Maranhão. Lorêto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region, between the Balsas & Parnaíba Rivers. About 40 km south of Lorêto. At place called "Picada", about 150 m. S of the creek, "Riacho da Picada".

Habitat
Semi-open spot at edge of thin low-tree gallery forest adjoining "chapada" woodland, just outside of brook ravine cut into gentle slope of side of low plateau. [See label for further habitat description.].

Description
Small monocot herb, fls. 34 mm. diam. Petals & sepals brown-spotted yellow at base, bright yellow above; thin filaments chocolate brown, anthers pale yellowish-white with black pollen chambers; thin style red-brown; stigma succulent, yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
