epiphytic moss low on the trunk of a tree Acer macrophyllum. Edge of a forest on clay-loam soil (Dixonville-Gellatly complex, 30 to 60 % slopes; fine, mixed, superactive, mesic Pachic Ultic Argixerolls). with Abies grandis, Corylus cornuta, Heterocladium sp., Neckera douglasii, Polypodium glycyrrhiza, Polystichum munitum, Porella navicularis, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Pteridium aquilinum, Quercus garryana, Rhamnus purshiana, Rubus parviflorus, R. ursinus & Symphoricarpus albus.
