Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of waterfall Cachoeira Salto Augusto, along the Rio Juruena. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Cachoeira Salto Augusto along Rio Juruena in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the land adjacent to the approximate geographic center of the waterfall. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the approximated farthest extent of the waterfall. Input coordinates, linear extent (822.742 m.), and measurement error (.001 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Mouth or headwaters of a river, confluence of waterways, trailhead).
