Rock and sand, moist. Exposure shady. Heavily wooded small river valley bluff.

Description
Herb 7" tall, 3 - 3 1/2" wide. Root 3 1/2" long. Leaves 1 - 2 1/2" long, opposite, then alternate, red center vein in basal leaves. Flower pink, radially symmetrical with white stripes radiating from center, calyx folding together to form a scoop, 4 petals, 2-3" wide. Measurements from fresh plant.
