United States of America. Idaho. Twin Falls Co. Sawtooth National Forest, South Hills, 25 miles southeast of Twin Falls, vicinity of Black Mountain.

Habitat
Rocky ridgetop above mountain big sagebrush/Idaho fescue slope. Occasional with Festuca idahoensis, Agropyron spicatum, Haplopappus acaulis, Symphoricarpos oreophilus, Holodiscus dumosus and Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus. Thin volcanic soils between rock outcrops.
