Disturbed forest with deep latosol. Common in this region but disappearing about 100 km. W of Brasilía.

Description
Solitary palm with 2.5 m. x 40-60 cm. trunk (often with persistent leaf bases) and often appearing to be narrower at the base25-30 leaves in the crown spirally arranged and spreading. [See label for further plant description.]. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
